January 26, 2014 Well, I just threw my proverbial hat in the ring by entering my nonfiction work, "Zippy vs. Chippy", into the CBC writing contest. Keep your fingers crossed! January 23, 2014 My mini novel, written during a three-day marathon in September, awaits the judges' decision sometime in February. If I'm not chosen as victor, I will be self-publishing "The Sanctioned" in eBook format on Kobo Writing Life. "The Sanctioned" is a somewhat dark tale, written in the dystopian genre, about a girl struggling through life in "Area 1" of an oppressed society. Overpopulation has crippled the world and the Overseers have been forced to separate females and males in high-security, numbered Institutes. The sexes live apart, not able to even look at each other, until they turn 18, and even then, are only released if they are "Chosen". As Violet approaches her 18th birthday, she becomes eligible for the draft and an opportunity to be mated and live in "The Havens". Nobody knows precisely what the Havens are like, since only those precious few who are chosen get to move there. Watch for an update about the availablity of this great story!   January 22, 2014 I'll be entering a CBC-sponsored writing contest this week for a short story of creative nonfiction. I chose to write about a zany situation that arose when a chipmunk found his way into our home and the havoc that ensued when he encountered our cat, Zippy! Wish me luck as "Zippy vs. Chippy" goes under review. August 14, 2013 Well, it's been a while, folks. Finally back in the proverbial saddle, though.
